MADE IN JAPAN: VILLAIN [AKUNIN | 悪人]

2010/09/22

http://www.akunin.jp/

VILLAIN tells a twisted tale of love and murder, with the anti-hero Yuichi being both, Jekyll & Hyde, the killer and the lover, who tries to escape from it all with his new date Mitsuyo. But with the police on his tail and no future in sight everything gears towards an unhappy ending.

The unusual story may very well be another man-on-the-run sleeper-hit from Japan – directed and co-written by Sang Il Lee, and starring Satoshi Tsumabuki, Eri Fukatsu, Masaki Okada, Hikari Mitsushima, Sansei Shiomi, Mansaku Ikeuchi, Ken Mitsuishi, Kimiko Yo, Hisashi Igawa, Suzuki Matsuo, Kinuo Yamada and Akira Emoto.

MADE IN JAPAN: A LONE SCALPEL [KOKUO NO MESU | 孤高のメス]

The Japanese never get bored of medical dramas, do they: this time it’s an adaptation of Toshihiko Oogane’s novel KOKOU NO MESU that has been given the international title A LONE SCALPEL.

Izuru Narushima’s movie tells the story of a doctor in the late 80’s who is supposed to perform an operation which at that time is prohibited by law. Something tells me that he will find a solution – starring Shinichi Tsutsumi, Yui Natsukawa, Akira Emoto, Kimiko Yo, Katsuhisa Namase, Yu Yoshizawa, Hiroki Narimiya and Mitsuru Hirata. Out in June.
