One day, I sat down in the movie theater before the lights dimmed, I felt like a teenage boy. Not because of the popcorn and soda, but because I knew I was going to be brought back to my childhood with the classic tale of WOLFMAN. I’ve seen Bram Stoker’s DRACULA, and later, Mary Shelley’s FRANKENSTEIN. And I was expecting another revamp of a legendary character.

However, WOLFMAN turned out to be anything but. From the trailers and posters, it took itself very seriously – leading the public believing it will be a classic horror flick, especially with getting heavyweights like Anthony Hopkins and Benicio Del Toro on board.

Overall, the movie’s very camp, more like a 50’s comic book. It never strayed too far away from being a parody of itself. Benicio’s performance is unbearable. His constant whining and self-loathing ways make me want to shove his head under an ice-cold tub of water and awake some other expressions besides a frown. Anthony Hopkins was slightly better, because he never took the role seriously.

Forget about being a sleeper, WOLFMAN will put you in a coma. And the only trick they could pull out of their hairy sleeves to keep you awake is cheap shocking images and sounds that jump out of nowhere. So, when the moon is full, beware of horrible movies.
